Nathaniel's father was Daniel Kelsey 1715–1803 and his mother was Abigail Brush 1720–1780. His parents married on February, 17th, 1740, in Huntington, Suffolk, New York. [1]
He married Lucretia Hollister, about 1770 in Marlborough, Ulster, New York.
Together they had five known children, listed below.
THE KELSEY GENEALOGY ...that he was the eldest son of Daniel Kelsey and Abigail Brush, as definite records are lacking of several of Daniel's children. That he lived at Huntington, N. Y. we are quite certain, as. he was a witness with his uncle Jonathan'" and Solomon Ketcham, to the will of Jesse Carll of that town, on Feb. 10, 178r.
That he was born about 1741 or 42, we know from the record, that he enlisted on Mar. 31, 176o, in Captain Jesse Platt's Company during the French and Indian Wars. This record also states that he was 18 years of age, of Huntington (L. I.), farmer, volunteer, 6 ft. 3 in. tall, and had dark eyes.

NATHANIEL KELSEY (Daniel'", Da11iel'0, Stcplle11', Wi/ liqm.'). probably second son and second child of Daniel Kelsey and his first wife, Abigail Brush, was born about 1743, probably at Huntington, N. Y.; removed to Marlborough, Ulster County, N. Y., where he died in 18o3. He married, about 1770, LUCRETTA ---, who died after Apr. 9, 18o3. Children: 5 (KELSEY), one son and four daughters.
It has been claimed that Natharucl"' saw service in the Revolutionary War, enlisting from Ulster County, N. Y.
He made his will on Apr. 9, 1803; proven Aug. 13, 1803, at Kingston, N. Y. It is given in part below... "* • * * I, Nathaniel Kelsey of the town of Marlborough in the county of Ulster and state of New York • * * * declare this instrument which is written with my own hand to be my last will and testament * • • • I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lucretia Kelsey all my personal estate after paying my debts as above ordered and also excepting what shall hereafter be granted to my daughter Sarah Kelsey. I also give and bequeath to my beloved wife the use, profit and benefit of the homestead farm where I now live, also the right and privilege of cutting timber for fire wood and other uses as she may want and also pasture for cattle and horses as usual in and on my farm adjoining the mountain • • • • and at the decease of my wife it is my will and desire that what remains of my personal estate be equally divided between all my children or their heirs. I also • * * *bequeath to rny son Nathaniel Kelsey all my real estate • • • • and direct that my son Nathaniel Kelsey or his heirs pay the following legacies that is to say to my daughter Abigail Woolsey the sum of one hundred pounds, to my daughter Sarah Kelsey the sum of one hundred pounds, to my daughter Lucretia Vernoy the sum of one hundred pounds, to my daughter Julia Deyo the sum of one hundred pounds • • • •. I also bequeath to my daughter Sarah Kelsey the entire use of the bedroom upstairs with a fireplace in also a proportion ate right in the kitchen cellar and chamber in my present dwelling house also the privilege of firewood and apples also hay and pasture for two cows and use of the barn and other out houses * • • • to continue as long as she remains unmarried * * * * if there should be any money to be paid at the decease of my father Daniel Kelsey and Hannah his wife to the heirs of the said Daniel Kelsey as specified in a certain agreement between myself and the said Daniel Kelsey that such sum if any there should be to be paid as aforesaid should be paid by my son Nathaniel Kelsey • * • • Lastly I constitute and appoint my beloved wife Lucretia Kelsey and my son Nathaniel Kelsey and my son-in-law Moses Woolsey and my grand son John Kelsey (when he shall have arrived at the age of twenty-one years) Executrix and Executors of this my last will and Testament, in witness of all and each of the things herein contained I set my hand and seal this ninth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred anJi three. Nathaniel Kelsey (L. S.) "Signed sealed pronounced and declared by the said Nathaniel Kelsey as his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names. PANIEL KELSEY (Daniel'", Danie/50, Stepben", l·Villiam'); probably third son and third child of Daniel Kelsey and his first wife, Abigail Brush, was born about 1744, and bapt, with his sister, Susannah (No. 715), at Huntington, N. Y. on Mar. 19, 1745/46. He married, Feb. 22, 1774, at the same place, RUTH GOULD. Children: 2(?) (KELSEY), one son and one daughter; perhaps others.
We have no record of the date and place of the death of the head of this family, and no record of the wife except her name, the marriage recorded at Huntington, N. Y.
