Leverett Kelvington, aged 66, died yesterday afternoon at 2:20 at Hepburn Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for the past four weeks. Mr. Kelvington was born in Lisbon on Oct. 1, 1880, son of the late William and Mary Melhinch Kelvington. He attended Lisbon schools and became a trainman on the Rutland Railroad on Nov. 10, 1905. After a few years, he gained the position of baggageman, which he held until his retirement in May, 1946. He was associated with the Rutland Railroad for 41 years altogether, and retired last spring because of ill health. On Oct. 3, 1911, he was married to Mabel Barrett of Malone, by the Rev. M. D. Sill. Mr. and Mrs. Kelvington came to Ogdensburg to reside after their marriage. He was highly respected among his co-workers and firends in this city. An active member of the First Congregational Church, member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and member of the local IOOF, Mr. Kelvington had a wide circle of friends. For 31 years, he held the office of treasurer in Lodge No. 279, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen… Funeral services will be held in his late home 501 Hamilton St., Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Gerald E. Boyce, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. George Dando, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.
