Elizabeth (Hicksey) Kemp was born about 1784, probably in Wake County, North Carolina. She is believed to be the daughter of Henry and Dinah Kemp who were residents of Wake County at that time.
Hicksey Kemp married Jeremiah Shaw 22 Nov 1804 in Wake, North Carolina, with William Shaw as bondsman and James Turner as witness.[1][2]
Probable children of Jeremiah and Hicksey Shaw:
Jesse married (1) Mary PARKS, (2) Sally CAIN (Possibly from another wife)
Solomon Reid married Elizabeth Kerley/CURLEY
Fannie married Henry GILLIAM
Mildred (Middy) married Henderson HALEY
Green William married (1) Margaret Ann BONE, (2) Frances Charity LLOYD
1860: Widow 'Hixey' Shaw (75 yrs) is living with her daughter Sarah (John) BOND.[7]
Jeremiah Shaw died intestate in Jan 1855, Wilson County, Tennessee. [8]
The heirs of Jeremiah Shaw are listed between 1857-1859 in the Wilson, Tennessee, transcribed Powers of Attorney receipts: wife Hicksey, son Lemuel M Shaw, Green W Shaw, S R Shaw, John and Sarah K Bond, Middy and Henderson Haley, Joseph and Elizabeth Gibson, children of deceased daughter Fannie Gilliam: John Gilliam, Ann Eliza Davis, and David Gilliam.[9]
Hicksey Kemp Shaw died before 4 Nov 1867 when Lemuel M Shaw, John Perkins, and Sam C Anderson provided Administration Bond.[10]
Notes
The heirs of Jesse Shaw are not listed in the Estate Settlement for Jeremiah Shaw. However, he moved to Illinois and was deceased almost 20 years before jeremiah's death. It is possible that he was related to jeremiah in another way.
