Studied at Caius College Cambridge, took his B.A. in 1811, and was presented by his kinsman, Bishop Tomline, to the Rectory of East Meon, Hampshire, in 1826.
Married Jane, daughter of Robert Pretyman, Esq. of Eye, Suffolk. Had 2 sons named Nunn Robert Pretyman and Thomas Cooke. There were also two other sons by the same names that died, and were buried at Dilham. The daughters were Martha Maria, who married James Barnard, of Bordean, on 28th October 1830; and Jane Sarah who died age four years, and Elinora Sarah Caroline, and Lucretia Melissa, both of whom were unmarried, and Jane Louise who died age four years.
