John was born in 1804, Union, South Carolina.[1][2]

He is the son of John Kendrick and Mary Darwin

Resident 1850 - Union, Union, South Carolina.[1]

  • Listed with his wife Nancy, sons John A, Smith, daughter Caroline, son Thaddeus, daughter Mary, son Franklin and youngest child James.

Living between oldest son William and his wife Mary Frances Gordon, and his sister, Mary Kendrick and her husband (John) Isom Howell (and family).

Resident 1860 - Union, South Carolina.[3]

He passed away in 1872.

* DAR application Nat'l Num: 142074, Chapter: 3013SC, Ancestor: KENDRICK, JOHN (A064623), for Nannie (Nancy) Kendrick Reaves. Nannie reported in her application that Alexander Franklin Kendrick was her father. She did however confuse the Captain John Kendrick of MA who married Huldah Pease with the John Kendrick who married Mary W Darwin (her direct ancestors). The latter is actually correct. DNA already proves that. I will add that later.

* 1840 US Census Union County, SC, page 124, listed with 9 family members who should have been alive in 1840: wife Nancy, sons William, John A, Smith, daughters Julia, Caroline, son Thaddeus, and daughter Mary. Living between M Martin and Thomas Gordon (future FIL)
