William was born about 1817 and was a Baker by trade. William Kendrick and his wife Mary raised five children. At the time of the 1851 Census, they were living at 113 North End Street in Wirksworth and had four children under the age of five! They did, however, have 2 servants, Charles Maskrey (Age 24) and Elizabeth Mather (Age 11). By the time of the 1861 Census, the family had moved to 103 North End Street and now only had one General Servant (Sam Fearn, age 14). Their brood had increased to five and the ages of the children had, of course, all advanced by 9 years (possible depending on the month the census was conducted), but the ages of (father) William and (mother) Mary had advanced only by 7 years and 6 years, respectively!!
