Biography

Marriage: 1834.

Death Registration: Third Quarter (July--September) 1875, Palmerston, Otago and Southland District, New Zealand. Age at Time of Death: 64 Years.

A MEMOIR. William Kennard was born 23 March 1813 at Rolvenden, Kent, England, United Kingdom, was baptized on 23 April 1813 at Rolvenden and married Maria Baker on 24 February 1834 at Brede, Sussex, England, United Kingdom.

He emigrated on 23 July 1838 from London, Middlesex, England aboard the "Lady Nugent", arriving on 27 November 1838 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

He emigrated on 12 March 1840 from Sydney aboard the "Magnet", arriving on 26 March 1840 in Waikouaiti, Otago, New Zealand.

As of circa 1843, he lived at Matanaka, Waikouaiti and between January 1849 and December 1850 he lived at Halfway Bush, Dunedin, Otago.

Between January 1853 and July 1875, he lived at Pleasant River, Goodwood, Otago.

He witnessed the marriage of Alonzo John Wells Morris and Alice Kennard on 3 January 1853 at the Manse of Reverend Thomas Burns, Dunedin, Otago.

On 30 June 1858, William Kennard was on the Electoral Roll as a Freeholder: Goodwood while residing at Northern District, Otago, New Zealand.

On 30 June 1858, William Kennard was at Goodwood and between 30 June 1858 and June 1859, he was a grazier.

He died on 27 July 1875 at Goodwood and was buried circa 29 July 1875 at Palmerston Cemetery, Palmerston, Otago. He was 62 years of age. His estate was probated on 17 December 1875 at High Court, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand.
