William Matthews (25 Sept 1836^[3] - 1922^[4]) appears to have married three times with Emma as the second wife. The first wife was Emily Eldridge. William and Emily had 5 children. William and Emma had four children, John, Alice J, Emma Jane and Hannah Eliza. William and Charlotte Elizabeth Giles seem not to have had any childred^[5].

Burial on 25 Oct 1888 at the age of 57 in Eastbourne, Sussex, England^[6][7]
