Alexander Kennedy III was born between 1715-1717. He immigrated with his spouse and children to Charleston, South Carolina in 1763. In 1764 was granted land in Granville County (present-day Abbeville County).
Alexander Kennedy Sr (Alexender Jr's father) was petitioning 100 acres for himself and 100 acres each for his wife and 5 children under age 16 after they arrived in Charleston, S. C. January 24, 1764. The children were listed as Alexander Jr. (who was over 16 and granted 100 acres for himself in Craven District, per Royal Land Grants, Vol. 15, pp. 564), Elizabeth, Robert, Agnes, William and John. He was granted 400 acres in Granville County, SC.
