Angus was born Jan 20, 1830 in Glengarry, Ontario. He was a son of Donald John Kennedy and Jeanette (McDonald) Kennedy.[1][2][3]
He married Margaret MacDougall on September 2, 1856 in St. Raphael's, Glengarry.[4] In approximately 1857, he moved to New Brunswick in the capacity of a railway contractor, receiving a sub-contract for the construction of a section of the NB and C Railway. There they raised a large family. Angus was listed as a merchant in 1871. In early 1881, he built the Kennedy Hotel, Canada's first summer hotel. The original building was fifty feet wide and one-hundred four feet long. The hotel still operates today under the name Kennedy Inn.
Angus passed away Feb 2, 1904 in Saint Andrew's[5] and is interred at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Saint Andrews[2][3].[6]
