Helen was born in Saint John, New Brunswick. Her parents lived at 276 Douglas Avenue, a house in the Queen Anne style, opposite Riverview Memorial park.
She was educated at MacDonald College, now part of the University of Guelph; trained as a dietician but never practiced, marriage intervening.
After dutifully following Bob around the globe, she retired to Oakville, Ontario where her two sisters, Marg and Ruth lived. She died in Toronto on January 1, 2001. A memorial to Helen and Bob can be found on the floor of the Garden Chapel of St. Jude's Church, Oakville, Ontario.
