I have absolutely no further proof but I think this AD Kennedy is Alexander's son and William Henry's brother. There are too many "A" Kennedys in this tribe :(
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT THIS FOLLOWING NEWSPAPER ARTICLE AS FACT. OVER THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND 2019 I VISITED A COUSIN WHO HAD MANY MANY KENNEDY DOCUMENTS. AMONG THESE WAS AN ACCOUNT OF THE DEATH OF HOUSTON GARRISON KENNEDY NEAR MEXIA, TEXAS. IT IS A FACT THAT THIS NEWSPAPER GOT BAD INFO. I HAVE LETTERS FROM THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND FROM OTHER RELATIVES LIVING IN THE MEXIA, TX. AREA TELLING THE TRUE STORY. I AM NOT EVEN SURE WHO "A. D. KENNEDY" IS.
I WILL LEAVE THIS ARTICLE ONLY AS A REFERENCE SHOULD OTHERS FIND IT ON LINE SO THEY WILL KNOW IT IS NOT ACCURATE.
Killed.
The following are the particulars, as far as we can learn from them, of the killing of Mr. A. D. Kennedy, Jr., brother of Mr. A. Kennedy Jr. of Maryville: Mr. Kennedy and a friend had been on a trip to Mexia. Texas, and on their return had stopped at a house to get dinner.
The gentleman, who accompanied Mr. Kennedy took his saddle off the horse and hung it on the fence.
After dinner the gentleman happened to look out of the window and saw that his saddle was gone. He remarked to his host that some one had stolen his saddle. He and Mr. K. immediately went out to look for it They found some large footprints near the place where tho saddle had been. Mr. K. at once mounted his horse and started in the direction of the footprints, while the other gentleman went to get another saddle for his horse.
Mr. Kennedy overtook the thief before his friend had caught up with him. It is supposed that he attempted to arrest the thief, and in the scuffle was stabbed to the.heart . He was dying when his friend came up. The thief made his escape, and up to the 17th inst. had not been captured, though every effort had been made to do so.
The only clue that his friends have to the murderer is the deposition of a lad of twelve years, who said that he saw a negro man, hat less and shoe less, running down the creek with pistol in one hand and a dagger in the other.
Mr. Kennedy had only been married a short time, and his loss will be felt by his many friends both here and in Texas.
Thank you to Phil Kennedy for creating Kennedy-4486 on 26 Oct 13.
