DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Problem is how can john m Kent born 1814 and died 1854 have William Kent as father on some sites and have Smith f Kent as father on other sites. Can't find proof which one yet. With no birth records recorded in America until 1900s makes it difficult. Also it seems that one john lived in Morgan cnty and another one lived in Lawrence cnty at same time. Quite a mystery. Am in touch with the counties to see. Hopefully more info soon ..since the two bros Wiley and William are not biologically Kents. Per DNA testing of their descendants, what if bro john was actually a Kent? This is also proven by DNA testing of his 4th great grandson. But the DNA shows Smith f Kent as John's father not William.

1.That Geni posting is old impossible data. All of Richard and Sarah Doane's other children born and died MA. William b NC . They probably had a son William. Did they drop him off in NC and return to MA?

2. So here is some results of a couple of us who are were serious researchers and not copiers. Three of us who are William Kent descendants did a Y DNS project. These three matched Y DNA proving that they were William's descendants. They matched no other Kents anywhere but dozens of Carlisles of various spelling. So he was not genetically a Kent. I attempted with no success, to get a descendant of Elbert Kent, William's probable brother or cousin b GA 1790 who also came to Morgan CO AL to be Y DNA tested. 3. There are several different versions on his wife, none ever sourced, 4. My research agrees John Kent b AL 1814 who married Matilda Parker agrees with your info. Geni and Ancestry have him as son of Smith Kent who died in Ark.

Per geni.com site William's father was Richard Kent born in 1757 in Maine.. Mother was Sarah Doane born in Maine in 1762..

One of William's wives was Sarah Parmer born in NC in 1783. She and William were the parents of James John m.Kent born in ala in 1814. James' wife was Matilda Parker.. William was born in NC and died in Ala...
