Edith Maude Kent (married name Nicholls) was born in 1865 in Timor, Victoria, Australia, the daughter of Mary (Mitchell) Kent and Joseph Kent.^{[citation needed]}

She married Thomas Nicholls in 1887 in Victoria.^[1] Their son was:^{[citation needed]}
