Samuel Kent was born on 27 Nov 1786 in Suffield, Hartford, Connecticut, United States, son of Elihu Kent II (1757 - 1813) and Elizabeth (Fitch) Kent (1761 - 1850).
His sister was Elizabeth (Kent) Kendall (1784 - 1860).
Samuel married Millicent Willis Steele (1790 - 1843) on 3 Mar 1812 in Connecticut. Their children were:
- Elizabeth Sophronia Kent (1817 - >1874)
- James Steele Kent (1819 - 1869).
Samuel died on 28 May 1854 in Tolland, Tolland, Connecticut aged 67. He is buried in South Yard Cemetery, Tolland, Connecticut, USA
