  • Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. James Russell Kenyon, FTDNA kit #114135, and his 4th cousin once removed, anonymous Kenyon a descendant of Randall Kenyon, FTDNA kit #293790, match at a Genetic Distance of 1 on 111 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA Barnabas Kenyon. In addition to the close match, it should be noted a distinctive signature marker DYS449 = 29, which sets this Kenyon line apart from the other Rhode Island Kenyon males. With the additional testing of other Kenyon males from this line, the signature marker is determined to have started at Samuel Kenyon. It would thereby be expected to affect all Kenyon males descended from this line.
