Research Notes

Note N0990 7/26/2021 See a Samuel Horner on the same page as Sarah Ann Kerr for baptism. They must have gone to the same church. Samuel Horner, aged 5 months, 17 days, Wm and Nancy Horner, Oct 16, 1842 (baptism)

Note N0991 7/26/2021 The bible says Sarah Jane Kerr, daughter of Jane Kerr was born May 14, 1840. Her death certificate says she was born in the year 1842 but she couldn't have because of the birth of her brother Joseph C Walker Kerr who was born Feb 10, 1842. This means that both Joseph and Jane were conceived out of wedlock and Jane being both conceived and born out of wedlock.

I hope this gets filled out one day. This individual was the only sibling to have issue. In the 1900 US Census, she is listed as Sallie Johnston living in Philadelphia; 3 children, 2 of which were living in 1900; years married was 34 in 1900. In 1920, she is living in Philadelphia again called Sallie. In the 1930 US Census, she was living with Bertha H Wilson, daughter in Philadelphia.

Note N0336 The following names are written in the front and back of the Bible:
Henry Simpson.
Jane Simpson.
Bible contained receipts of quarterly tithes with Mary Pritchett Simpson's (1789-1858) name on them.
There is a listing of family members (hand written) that was tucked inside this Bible; a separate printed list of Family data was contained in the wooden box owned by William B Jenkins Jr. The bible must have been passed down from Mary Pritchett Simpson to the oldest daughter (Jane Simpson Kerr) and then to Josephine Simpson Jenkins. Josephine was the youngest and died last. This is the reason it contains some of the Kerr grandchildren birth dates. Jane Simpson Kerr died shortly after the last two entries in the bible.
