Research Notes

Date and place of death, confirmation of some children still needed but the two wives are correct. There may be another George Kerr/Carr and there may be two James Kerr individuals who might be conflated as his father.

1870 census has Andrew Circle, 53, his wife Catharine 35 and a few children, a few entries above the Carr family. What relationship were they if any to Margaret?

How and when did he arrive in Mercer, OH? 1860 census needed.

Below some sources that need further investigation:

"Ohio Deaths, 1908-1953," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X8JX-CF8 : 8 March 2021), George Kerr in entry for William Kerr, 08 Mar 1926; citing Galion, Crawford, Ohio, reference fn 13957; FHL microfilm 1,984,195. (William Kerr 1843-1926, lists George b. in Scotland as father but Margaret Barnes as mother). However it may be confused with James Kerr 1804-1867 who lived in Morrow OH, and is presumably the father of this George, making William George's brother? There is also a James Kerr 1804-1880 who lived in Harrison, OH.

George's 2nd wife Eliza Emerick was the daughter of the sister of Margaret Hickman, who was the mother of John S.H. Burch, whom Mary E. Carr married as his second wife.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with George by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with George:

Carr-14075 and Kerr-6024 appear to represent the same person because: I adopted this profile, not a relative but a family connection. If the birthdate discrepancy can be resolved I believe they should be merged. I will see if I can research more sources for him on ancestry.
