Biography

Bessie J. Rowles, 88, of Curwensville, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Snyder Memorial, in Marienville, PA.

She was born on July 1, 1926, in North Point, PA the daughter of the late Kenneth and Gladys (Jordan) Kerr. On April 16, 1949 she married LeRoy Rowles, who passed away September 21, 1994.

She worked at Dotts Restaurant in Curwensville and her and her husband were the owners of Rowles Dairy Farm in Olanta.

Bessie was Methodist by faith. She was an avid Penn State fan.

She is survived by her son-in-law, James Miller of Curwensville, three daughters: Karen and her husband Jeff of Grampian, Sandy and fiancé Mike Hoover of Curwensville and Lee Mays of Olanta; grandchildren: Brian and his wife Sarah Wriglesworth and their children Asher and Rosalie of Port Royal, Adam and Elizabeth Wisor and their child, Eli of Grampian, Katelyn Mays and her fiancé Cory Clark of DuBois, and Tyler Mays of Olanta; a sister, Margaret Caldwell of Indiana, PA, sister-in-law, Lelia Rowles of Olanta and brother-in-law Raymond and his wife Mary Rowles of Brockport; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Shirley Miller and sister Maxine McKee.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Presbyterian Church in Curwensville with Rev. Charles Taber and Gary Jewart CLP officiating. Burial will be in Bloomington Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. An additional hour of viewing will be held at the church from 10:00am until the hour of service.
