California Jane Kerr was born November 3, 1836 in Giles County, Tennessee, a daughter of James Henry Kerr and Lydia Patterson. She married Thomas Nathaniel “Jim” Harper on June 2, 1855 in Greene County, Missouri; they had at least eight children. In 1870, they were living in Webster County. California died August 9, 1919 and was buried at Weaver Cemetery, Ozark, Christian County, Missouri.
