“Death Notices. Bickford – Died February 11, 1976 at a local hospital, Edna M. Bickford, of 5233 Gravelbrook Dr. She is survived by her husband, Richard H. Bickford; three daughters, Carol Baptista of Valera, Venezuela, Maxine Arsenault of Spencer, Mass., and Judith Glass of Kingstown, Rhode Island; two sons, Ernest A. Bickford II of Woodstown, N. J., Richard H. Bickford Jr., of Staunton, Va., her mother, Katherine S. Kershaw of Rockleigh, New Jersey; three sisters, Anita Jacobsen of Staten Island, New York, Dolores Lesher, of Atlantic Highlands and Dr. Edyth Kershaw of Staten Island, New York; two brothers, George V. Kershaw of Rockleigh, New Jersey, and Warren Kershaw of Cinton Corners, N.Y. ; 19 grandchildren. The remains rest at the Morrissett Funeral home, 6500 Ironbridge Rd., (Rt 10) where services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment in Worcester, Mass. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family has requested that flowers be omitted. Ernest Armand 'Ernie' Bickford

"Ernest Armand 'Ernie' Bickford - Pilesgrove, N. J. Ernest "Ernie" Armand Bickford of Pilesgrove, New Jersey, passed away on October 13, 2016. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts and raised in Leicester, Massachusetts, Ernie was the son of Richard H. and Edna (Kershaw) Bickford. Ernie was a graduate of Leicester High School and Lawrence Academy. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU), where he majored in physics and math and played football for three years; he graduated in 1961. Upon graduation, he played semi-pro football for the Akron Pros. Prior to college, he served his country for four years with the US Air Force. He was the last Korean War veteran to attend Ohio Wesleyan, which earned him the nickname "The Old Grad" as he was six years older than his classmates. Upon his graduation, Goodyear Industrial Rubber employed him. In 1977, he started his own business, Bickford Rubber Supply in Woodstown, New Jersey. Ernie's other business ventures included the western apparel store, Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters. He worked at the Cowtown Rodeo for forty-two summers and attended his last rodeo this September. He also co-owned a charter fishing boat, roasted pigs for parties, and sold wood-burning stoves in the 1970s. Ernie served as a Pilesgrove Township committeeman and was later elected Pilesgrove mayor for two terms. He also served on the board of the Harvest Bank of Salem County. He is survived by his children, Michael (Kessler) of Easton, Maryland; Peter (Teri) of Baltimore, Maryland; Suzanne Zigo (Travis) of Pilesgrove, New Jersey; and siblings Carol Baptista (Carlos), Judy Glass, Maxine Arsenault (Kenneth) and Dick Bickford; and five grandchildren, Alec, Ryan, Andrew, Lindsey, and Henry. Services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Adams Funeral Home, 64, Broad St., Woodstown, N.J., 08098. The memorial visitation will begin at 9:30am, with the service following at 11am. Interment will take place at a later date at Berlin South Cemetery in Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salem County chapter of Meals On Wheels." "Spencer — Maxine (Bickford) Arsenault, 83, of Crestview Dr., died Tuesday, Dec. 28 in Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, W. Brookfield. She was the wife of Kenneth J. Arsenault, Sr. who died in 2018. She leaves her son Kenneth J. Arsenault, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Barre, her daughters; Pamela J. Benoit of Spencer, Carol A. Lord and her husband Doug of Brookfield and Kimberly M. Parker and her husband Kevin of E. Brookfield, her sisters; Carol Baptista of Orlando, FL., and Judith Glass of North Kingstown, RI., 7 grandchildren; Todd, Crystal, Amanda, Nicholas, Megan, Erin and Gabrielle, 5 great grandchildren; Olivia, Colin, Maddison, Charlotte and Brooke, several nieces and nephews and her cat Chloe. She is predeceased by her brothers; Ernest and Richard Bickford. Maxine was a cook at the Black & White Restaurant in Spencer for many years, before retiring in 2007. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Richard H. and Edna (Kershaw) Bickford and later graduated from Leicester High School. She was a member of Charlton United Methodist Church and was a big Red Sox Fan. The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate staff at Quaboag for taking care of their mother. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. in the Charlton United Methodist Church, 74 Stafford St., Charlton. Memorial calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. The family suggests that Masks be worn for all of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Mass., 01701.
