Research Notes

He was about seven years old when his father passed away. By the time he was thirteen, the family removed to Norwalk, Connecticut where he lived most of his life.

In 1701 he was in the service of the town of Norwalk and in 1705 he was elected a Selectman of the town. Joseph owned many large parcels of land in and around Norwalk. The Ketchums were members of the Congregationalist Church. Joseph changed the spelling of the name to "Ketchum." many of his descendants use the surname Ketchum rather than Ketcham.

His wife, Mercy, likely predeceased him and he married Sarah. Sarah is mentioned in his will. Sarah may be the mother of some of the above children.

He passed away between the signing of his will, 4 May 1730 and the date it was proven, 3 July 1730. [4][5] He was buried at Norwalk.

The sources need to be cleaned up. We should not use "Ancestry" sources but the actual sources themselves. And never use Family Collections and such, they are NOT valid resources. Same thing with submitted trees.
