Jacob Keuler was born May 30, 1865 and emigrated from Germany, in 1882. Our family stories (as told by his daughter, Frieda Keuler) were that Jacob "came over on the pickle boat" from Germany (to Maryland).
He met and married Matilda Nussman in May of 1896 (who had also emigrated from Germany in 1892) and started a bar/tavern, and then Keuler's Bakery (after prohibition forced them to close the tavern in 1920).
Daughters were Caroline "Carrie" Fredericka (born 1897), Matilda "Tillie" Henrietta (born 1899), Rose Augusta (born 1901) and Frieda Alvina (born 1911).
