Biography

John was born in 1884 to parents William and Alice.

He was christened in 1891 in Ashton. [1]

In 1891 he was with his parents and older siblings in Ashton. [2]

In 1901 John was working as a fitter for an electrical manufacturing company. He was living with his parents and siblings in Preston. [3]

John married Mary Agnes Dilworth in February 1906. Their children were;

  • Edith Agnes b. 23 April 1906
  • Harold Dilworth b. 15 March 1907
  • John b. 31 July 1909
  • Ann b. 1911 d. before 1915
  • Mary b. 26 April 1914

In 1911 John and Mary Agnes were living in Preston with three of their children. Their eldest, Edith, was with her grandparents. [4]

John fought in World War One, he enlisted in 1915. [5] He was an engineer according to his daughter's marriage record.

In 1939 John and Mary Agnes were in Preston, he was an engine fitter. [6]
