Biography

George Berry Keys was born on 7 March 1814 in Virginia, the younger of two known children, both sons, of Roger and Susannah Berry Keys.

On 19 December 1839, when he was twenty-three, he married Sarah McConnell in Washington County, Virginia].^[1]

She bore him six known children, four sons and two daughters, including

1. Thomas Keys
2. Walter Keys
3. Samuel Keys.

On 28 July 1853, when he was thirty-nine, he died, probably in Washington County, of unknown causes.

George B Keys appears in the 1850 United States Federal Census as a 36-year-old teacher with no property, living with his wife, Sarah, who is eight years younger than he and is a farmer with no property, and five small children, three sons and two daughters.
