I was born Evadeen Renata Keys. All growing up I heard fascinating stories about my maternal grandmother's side of my family, the Gibbons family. My mothers name was Evadeen (Shoultz) Keys. Her mother's name was Lillian Alice (Gibbons) Shoultz.
I found out through my family that my mother was going to name me, Amanda and decided to name me after her. I fell in love with the name, Amanda and eventually asked everyone to call me that instead. Eventually, I decided to have a legal name change, to change it to Amanda and change my last name to Gibbons, to honor the Gibbons family.
So, my name to this day is, Amanda Renata Gibbons.
For now, I will be focusing on my Gibbons family tree. I found a cousin's Ancestry(dot)com documents. It indicates that she is a 19th cousin to President George Washington. It also indicates that my grandmother, Lillian Alice (Gibbons) Shoultz is the 17th cousin to President Washington's brother, Lawrence Washington.
So, I have been researching this in hopes to one day be able to stand back and look at this family tree grew. What started out as a hobby about a year ago, over time, has turned into an obsession I want no cure for. :)
UPDATE:
So, I am getting much better at learning how to search for Ancestors and better at learning how to use the Wikitree Tools. This has been a slow process due to fighting Advance Ovarian Cancer of which I just recently won that battle. I'm in better condition to focus more time on Wikitree now. In my recent searches, I found out I am related to 29 Presidents and that many Presidents are related to each other. My hope is to get all of our branches connected and then get all of us connected to our Royal lineage, so we all are connected together on the same Tree.
The Presidents I am related to are as follows:
25 generations Barack Obama Jr. 28 generations Jimmy Carter Jr. 28 generations Benjamin Harrison (1833-1901) 29 generations John Calvin Coolidge Jr. (1872-1933) 33 generations William Henry Harrison (1773-1841) 33 generations Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) 34 generations Stephen Grover Cleveland (1837-1908) 36 generations James Madison Jr. (1751-1836) 36 generations Zachary Taylor (1784-1850) 36 generations Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) 36 generations John Tyler (1790-1862) 37 generations George Washington (1732-1799) 37 generations William Howard Taft (1857-1930) 37 generations George Herbert Walker Bush (1924-2018) 37 generations Herbert Clark Hoover (1874-1964) 38 generations John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) 38 generations George Bush 39 generations James Buchanan Jr. (1791-1868) 39 generations Leslie Lynch (King) Ford Jr. (1913-2006) 40 generations Hiram Ulysses Simpson Grant (1822-1885) 40 generations Franklin Pierce (1804-1869) 40 generations Bill (Blythe) Clinton III 41 generations Theodore Roosevelt Jr. (1858-1919) 41 generations Richard Milhous Nixon (1913-1994) 41 generations Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908-1973) 41 generations Thomas Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) 41 generations Warren Gamaliel Harding (1865-1923) 42 generations Harry S Truman (1884-1972) 44 generations Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822-1893)

Siblings, born from first cousins, that's what they are. And, the mental illnesses and defects that were multiplied in the siblings is heart breaking. It's not their fault. It is with great honor that I want to keep their rights to be considered precious gifts to us all and one of us. This is going to be a complex and daunting project for me, but with time and tons of patience, I'll improve their family tree. Watch the YouTube video for details about the Whittakers to learn why I feel so passionate and emotional about them. I only wish I lived near them, I would help them out in any way I could!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

PS Have you noticed that you can click on Tags to see others interested in that surname, or location?
I am totally enjoying myself here on WikiTree! To find out who I came from and find relatives who I didn't know I was related to, has had me flabbergasted.
And, no I didn't know about the Butler Name Study, but because of you I do now! :)
I am getting along figuring out the tools this site offers pretty good now. At first it was intimidating like crazy. I'll be sure to contact you if I get super confused over something. I know I should be adding more to WikiTree, I have just gotten lost in reading all the History of my ancestors.
What I find here, I Google search it on the web to find more information about it. I am now convinced that our Public School System needs a good overhaul in teaching History. Because, being involved with WikiTree, I have learned a different account of History than I was ever taught in my Public Schools.
I am just still overwhelmingly amazed at what all I have learned here and it's changed my life forever! I am so glad I joined!
Thank you so very much for reaching out to me....
Amanda
So glad you are enjoying it so much! I agree with you, there is so much here to learn! Even after two years, I still find new apps, tools, and resources!
See you in the branches!

When we comment on another WiKiTreer's profile, where can the notification of a replay be found?
Thank you!
When you comment or reply to a comment on a profile page, there is a check box right above the button "Post Reply", to "Email me if someone replies". This setting can also be managed on your "My WikiTree" > "Settings". So, the notification should show up in your email.

Hope your day is awesome! Amanda
Thank you! :)
My first few days here has been way way way more awesome than I even imagined! I finally feel connected to my family, tho it's digitally connected. I have learned so much about the history of my heritage that I feel so overwhelmed. More than this, I am so aware now, more than I ever have been before, that we all who have breathed, who are breathing now and who will be breathing on the planet, are one great huge big family! I even cried once over the beautifully wonderful and new revelation....THAT I AM REALLY NOT ALONE! Thank you all for you willingness to participate in being a part of growing our one and single tree!
PEACE AND A BIG HUG TO ALL! <3

This is so wonderful to have people welcome me here. I am going to try my best to not make mistakes and not be a pest with questions. But, once in a while, I am sure I will make a mistake and need to ask something. I'm going to be focused on my mother's side of the family for now. Through my cousin's Ancestry(dot)com document, it claims she and our grandmother are decedents of President George Washington. I have done enough research to know what the document says is accurate. I am determined to explore how our family branches actually connect. I am excited about this adventure.
Thank you for the welcome! :)

So, I get my own personal welcome committee, how nice! I don't have questions right now, because I am just so overwhelmed by the wealth of family information here, that I don't know what questions I should ask. YET. But, I did add my photo, fixed information about me in my profile and then wrote out a bio explaining my complex self. LOL Please, you are more than welcomed to go check it out.
Thank you for the welcome! :)
I'm usually around so don't hesitate when you do have questions!
