Andrew Keyser was born December 16, 1758, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, a son of Carl Kayser and Mary Shelly [1] His family moved to Shenandoah county, Virginia, where he enlisted as a Private during the American Revolutionary War. Andrew served in Captain Conway Oldham's company, under the command of Colonel Richard Campbell. [2]

Andrew is honored for his military service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as Ancestor #A065433. According to their records, Andrew was twice married. His first wife was Sarah Rinehart and his second Elizabeth (?nee) Andrew died November 23, 1833 in Luray, Virginia (near Page county, Virginia.) Application for membership in the Society have been made by the descendants of his sons, Andrew Keyser, who married Julia Ann Thompson; Noah Keyser, who married Ann Roads; George Keyser, who married Easther Hershberger; and of his daughter, Margaret Keyser, who married John Reedy; Esther Keyser, who married Isaac C. Dovel; and Lydia Keyser, who married Isaac Austin. [3]

Andrew's Find A Grave indicates that he was born in Virginia, [4] however, his application for his pension and his DAR records state that he was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania. A suggestion has been sent to the manager of his FAG memorial. jg January 18, 1019
