Marguerite "Peggy" Bowers, 76, of Jacksonville, FL and Tallahassee FL, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2015 at her home in Jacksonville with her daughter by her side.
Peggy was born in Wilmington N. C. to the late Thomas Jasper Kidd and Marguerite Page Kidd. After attending Holton-Arms School in Washington D.C., Peggy moved to Tallahassee as a teenager where she graduated from Leon High School, married her high school sweetheart Fred Bowers and started a family.
Peggy had many interests over the years, varying from training Labrador and Golden Retrievers and entering them in field trails to traveling with her daughters. She was a big Il Divo fan and traveled near and far to attend their concerts with a lucky daughter or two by her side. Her daughters have fond memories of outings with their Mom picking wild blackberries, crabbing at St. Marks, transplanting that special native plant, and helping her at the Junior League's Bargain Box thrift store. Peggy was an active member of the Junior League of Tallahassee for years and remained a sustaining member. Peggy moved to Jacksonville over eight years ago to be closer to her youngest grandchild. Her fondness for Tallahassee remained over the years and she enjoyed frequent trips back to visit family and appreciate the natural beauty of the area.
Peggy is survived by her daughters Maribeth Wiggins (Dave), Tallahassee FL; Laura Lynn Walton (John), Anchor Bay CA; Rita Boccio (Fred), Jacksonville FL; Nell Bowers (Anita), Tallahassee FL; grandsons Stephen Volkert (Ashly), Christopher Volkert, and Thomas Boccio, all of Jacksonville.
