Frederick Stanley Kidd was born on 8 Sep 1897 in Sunderland, Durham, England. He was the son of John Kidd and Julia Fryer. ^[1]

Fred had a younger brother, Howard Pearson Kidd, born on 18 June 1899. ^[2] The baby appears to have died within its first three months as there is a death recorded in Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of the same year but in the adjoining county of Cumberland. ^[3]

On 31 March 1901 he is recorded, aged 3, living in East Rainton, Durham, England, with his parents who were then aged 30, his younger brother is not present. ^[4]

In 1909, at the age of twelve, his family emigrated to Adelaide in South Australia on the SS Dorset. ^[5] By this time he had two more siblings, Leslie Howard aged four, ^[6] and Clarissa Emma aged 2. ^[7]

Frederick Stanley Kidd served in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) in World War 1. His enlistment date was 22 Feb 1916. His address when he enlisted was Norwood, South Australia. His occupation when he enlisted was Plumber. His unit was: 32nd Battalion, 6th Reinforcement. His rank was Sergeant. Discharged 6 February 1918. ^[8] He served In Egypt and France and was discharged to 1/22 Punjabis, India.

He married Elinor Mary Farquhar (Thomson) Kidd on 12 Dec 1921 in Coonoor, Madras, India.

Frederick Stanley Kidd died on 10 Sep 1972 in Belair, South Australia and was buried in the Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia. ^[9]
