Biography

David married Hannah White (daughter of Joseph White a United Empire Loyalist) and settled in Elizabethtown, Leeds County, Ontario. Land patents granted to United Empire Loyalist in the Township of Elizabethtown list David Kilborn as receiving 200 acres of Concession 9, Lot 23, December 1, 1797. David was a Republican at heart, even though he resided on the King's soil. During the War of 1812, he engaged in secret services of the United States, under the direction of General James Wilkinson. As a result, his entire estate in Canada was confiscated by the British Government. He moved to Scriba, New York, where he resided until his death in 1847. His services were acknowledged by the American Government and appropriations were made to reward him for his services.
