Joseph Kilgore was born in 1810 in Pikeville, Tennessee, when his father, Stephen Kilgore, was 43 and his mother, Rebecca Salyer , was 40.
He married Jessica Martha "Jessie" Copeland and they had eight children together. He also had one son with Nancy Emma Knight. He then married Sarah Kilgore on January 25, 1863, in Weakley, Tennessee.
He died in June 1899 in Marion, Tennessee, having lived a long life of 89 years, and was buried there in the Laynes Chapel Cemetery. [1]
