Biography

Chris Kilgus was born in Maysville, Kentucky on March 26, 1922. He enlisted in the Army Air Force prior to World War ll. He was assigned to one of the first air squadrons to be deployed following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Chris served in both the Pacific and European Theaters, flying many missions as a group leader. He was awarded numerous military medals including the Purple Heart.

Upon his return from the South Pacific, Chris was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base as an instructor. It was during this tour of duty that he met and married Echo Merritt originally from Benton, LA.

After the war, Mr. Kilgus attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. He worked as a Registered Pharmacist serving the community for many years.
