Biography

Eliakim was born May 17, 1778, at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He was the son of John Killam and Joanna Parrot.[1][2]

About 1800, Eliakim married Margaret Mattingly at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of James Mattingly and Emma Corning.

They had nine children:[3]

  1. James M. Killam (1801-1879)
  2. Hannah Killam (1802-1870)
  3. John Killam (1804-1840)
  4. Mary Killam (1806-1888)
  5. Margaret "Peggy" Killam (1808 - )
  6. Abigail Killam (1812 - )
  7. Eliakim Killam II (1814-1872)
  8. Martha Killam (1814 - )
  9. Phoebe Killam (1819 - )

Margaret passed away in 1832 and was buried at the Brookside Cemetery in Hebron, Yarmouth County.[4] Eliakim was buried there as well after his death on November 2, 1859.[5] They share a memorial stone with their son John.
