Biography

Mathias was born in North Carolina about 1750. He died in Daviess County, Indiana in 1830.[1] He was likely the oldest child of Leonard Killian and Mary Margaret Killen, as he was named executor for his mother's estate.[citation needed]

Mathias married Anna Elizabeth Fulbright, likely about 1774, when his father deeded him 270 acres of land in Lincoln County, North Carolina.[citation needed] By the 1790 census, Mathias' household included three males under 16 years of age and four females (one of whom is presumed to have been Anne Elizabeth).

Mathias purchased land in Bogard Township, Daviess County, Indiana in 1822.[2] It is debated whether Anne Elizabeth died in North Carolina prior to Mathias' move, or if she was the surviving widow, Elizabeth, mentioned in his Daviess County estate record. No records for his possible second marriage have been identified.

Mathias appeared in the 1830 US Census of Daviess County, Indiana, but died sometime before December of that year, when his estate entered probate.[1] The inventory was recorded April 1, 1831.[citation needed] The estate settlement recorded on 20 Sep 1834 names his widow, Elizabeth, and 7 heirs, all of legal age.[3] It is not known where Mathias or his widow were buried.
