Biography

Research Notes

Lincoln County was not created until 1779. See Space:Formation of North Carolina Counties. It was Mecklenburg County in 1752.

The roster is dated 4 Feb 1781, 24 Feb-24 Apr 1781. Each of the below named men enlisted in the same day, 29 January 1781, and each of them deserted on the same date, 23 Feb 1781 (maybe that is just when the roll was called and they weren’t present.) Some of these I’ve been able to track down. I believe that many, if not all, of these men were Lincoln Co. NC, men.

Manton, Thomas

Beal, John

Killean, Adam (b. abt. 1752 Mecklenburg Co., NC, d. abt. 1821 Lincoln Co., NC, has a profile and is a cousin of mine)

Galtney, Nathaniel (b. 1753 Surrey Co., NC, d. 1827 Lincoln Co., NC, has profile)

Myars, Elias (maybe the one b. 1762 Mecklenburg Co., NC, d. 1846 Carroll Co., Tenn. or Myers-5923 moved to Daviess Co. Indiana where several of the Killians ended up, though he would have been young for the war, but not impossible)

Club, Gasper (b. ca. 1742 Baden, HRE, d. after 1820 Lincoln Co., NC, my great-great-great-great grandfather)

Lockman, Benjamin

Attested by John Jenkins, Deputy Muster Master; Nicholas Welch, Major; Christopher McRa, Lieut.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Adam by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Adam:
