John was born in 1879. He is the son of Edward Killian and Lucy Grosh. John may have died in early childhood, as he hasn't yet been found after the 1880 census; he definitely died before 1900, as his mother is listed on that census as having four of twelve children living -- Ida, Mary, and Henry Debring and Lucy Killian.[1][2]
