Biography

Found in the 1881 Canada census with parents, James and [H]Ellen Killoran in Downie township, Ontario. Also found in the 1891 census with age given as 30 -- this would have been shortly before his marriage. ^[1]

1861 Canada Census gives age at NEXT birthday as 3 years, which is where the 1858 birth year comes from -- listing is abbreviated as 'Mihl' Killorn - found using James Killorn. ^[2] 1871 Census gives his age as 11, making his birth year 1859 or 1860. ^[3]

1901 Canada Census gives Michael's age as 40, which is inaccurate, but it does give day and month of birth. Listed as Micheal, which I believe is an Irish spelling. ^[4] Wife listed as Mary J. born July 16, 1872; therefore, this is Mary Jane Teahan (b. 16 July 1871) who married Michael Killoran in 1891 in St. Marys, Ontario. Parents given as James and Ellen Killoran. Age on the marriage record isn't correct, but that isn't unusual. ^[5]

Grave is in St. Marys Cemetery, St. Marys, Ontario, Canada. Age on the headstone is 45 years in March of 1903, which still leaves year of birth at 1858. ^[6] Wife is shown as Mary J.

According to the death record for Michael Killoran, he died of pneumonia at the hospital in Stratford, Ontario and was living in the "Gore of Downie", better known as Downie Township, at the time. Death record is indexed incorrectly as Swatford, Ontario -- but of course there is no such place -- simply because it was poorly handwritten. (FamilySearch.org entry has been corrected, but that will not change the citation.) ^[7]
