Roll of Honor
AR1C Floyd Kilmer was Missing in Action during the Battle of Santa Cruz, Solomen Islands during World War II.

Floyd Kilmer was born 24 November 1916 in Arnold, Nebraska.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1940 and became a radioman 1st class and tail gunner. After the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941, he was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Hornet.

He was aboard the USS Hornet during the Battle of Midway and was declared missing in action on 26 Oct 1942 during the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, when his plane [1] , piloted by Lt. (jg) Philip F. Grant [2] , was shot down over the enemy ship Shōkaku, during the battle. [3] He was declared dead 4 December 1945. [4] [5]
