He served New Hampshire in the American Revolution as a 1st Lieutenant with Captain Samuel Gilman and Colonel Enoch Poor, and as a Captain on the 1st Regiment Continental Line, with Colonels John Stark and Joseph Cilley at Ticonderoga.[4][5]
After his death, his widow Sarah petitioned for a pension based on his Revolutionary War Service.
"He continued faithfully to serve his Country unimpeached until the unhappy 22nd Day of August A. D. 1779... when he was unfortunately killed by an accidental shot, leaving your Petitioner a widow with a large family of young children far from being in affluent circumstances."
