Biography

James Kimbell was born before 1763, based on him appearing in a 1784 Tax List. He was the son of Benjamin Kimball and Lucy Shearin. He passed away after 1794.

Friday April 29,1785 Benjamin Kimball acknowledged a deed to James Kimball also a deed to David Kimball the same was ordered to be registered.[1]

In the Warren County,North Carolina cesus,James had 6 slaves.[2]

James was named in his father's Will on 25 August 1794, in Warren County, North Carolina.[3]

James made his estate will in 1794,Warren,North Carolina.[4]

Also in the will , Franky is names as administrator. Franky (Frances) Unknown was his wife.

They had nine children: David Kimball, William Kimball who married Elizabeth __, Leonard Kimball, who married Priscilla Harris, James Kimball,who married Frankey or Frances __, Benjamin A. Kimball, Jr., who married his cousin, Mary Shearin, daughter of John Shearin. He was Justice of Warren County, NC. Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, 1795-1811, Charles Kimball, who died in 1795 and married Dianna __, Ransom Kimball,married Elizabeth Balthrop Shearin in 1804, widow of William Shearin, Jr., Rebecca Kimball married William Armstead, and Amey Kimball, married Drury Jones.

The will of this James was probated Nov. 1802. It names children, Edmund, Nathan,James and Polly. It states Nathan is under 21. Does not state wifes name, just calls her widow.
