Fred Kimber (1870-1949)

Fred Kimber was born in 1870 and christened 20 February 1870 at Stouer Provost, Dorset, England. He was the son of Stephen Kimber and martha (Lews) Kimber.

In 1888, on board the ship, 'Duke of Sutherland' Fred Kimber age 18, emigrated from England to Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

Fred Kimber married Martha Keane 07 February 1899 at Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

Fred Kimber passed away 15 February 1949 at Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

OBITUARY

Resident 63 years in Townsville, 45 or which he was employed at Hubert's Well pumping station, Frederick Kimber died on Tuesday at the age of 79 years.

The deceased was born in the county of Dorsetshire, England, and came to Australia at the age of 16. He has resided here ever since and only retired from active work three years ago.

The late Mr. Kimber and Mrs. Kimber celebrated their golden wedding on February 7.

He is survived by his widow, five sons, William (Rockhampton). Fred, Steve, Charlie and Robert, and four daughters, Mesdames W. Turner and F. Keane and the Misses May and Flo Kimber.
