Research Notes
Censuses have been downloaded from Ancestry.com or Family Search. The numbers at the end generally represent (Ward), (Enumeration District), and page(s).
Since Martha's second child was b 1825 and Robert's second marriage was in 1827, I'm assuming she died in 1826, though it could have been 1825 if the death was related to the birth. Dardinger-2 12:12, 18 August 2017 (EDT)
Rachel's LNAB isn't certain at this point. But the older man Isaac in the 1850 census definitely has a surname of Devie, and given her surname's spelling in the War of 1812 Pension Application Files Index, I assume he was intended to be her father. The only problem is that Martha's father was an Isaac of the same age and therefore it's possible that the census taker got confused on whose father he was and gave him the wrong surname. Perhaps there will be further informatioin available which will let this be determined one way or the other.
