Rex Eugene Kimble, 90 of Mineral Wells, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at the Ohio Valley Nursing Home.
Rex was born in Wood County, WV, October 18, 1925 one of six children of the late Charles E. and Hazel Wiggins Kimble.
He was a World War II Veteran, entering the US Navy March 1943 and served honorably aboard the USS Ashland with a home base of Pearl Harbor. His ship was deployed to the Philippines, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Tarawa and Marshalls. The ship and crew earned 7 battle stars.
He enjoyed playing baseball and fast pitch softball as well as trout fishing and golf.
He is survived by two sisters Sue Emrick of Mineral Wells, WV and Janis (John) Rost of Walker WV, Sister-in-law Madeline Kimble of Vincent, OH, nieces Lynn (Rick) Rodda of Wilmington, NC, Denise (Dave) Stewart of Washington, PA and Lauren, Leigh and Cheryl Kimble of Vincent , OH and nephews Lance (Elaine) Emrick, Washington, WV, Keith (Connie) Emrick, Parkersburg, WV, Brad (Brenda) Emrick, Parkersburg, WV, Derrick (Barbara) Rost Walker, WV and John (Pam) Rost, Parkersburg, WV
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Charles R Kimble and Max D Kimble, brother in law Charles W Emrick and sister in law Joan Kimble.
A graveside services will be held 1:30 pm Friday March 18 at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens on Murdoch Avenue with Pastor Joe Ward officiating. Full military rites will be privided by American Legion Post #15.
