Stewart was born about 1845 in Georgia. He served as a Pvt., Co. H, 28 (Gray's) Louisiana Infantry, enlisting Enlisted Feb. 17, 1863[1]

In 1880, they are located in Milam Co, Texas. Stewart is a farmer.[3]
There are various legal matters found in the Milam County Courthouse in Cameron, Milam, Texas.
He sold land to Geo. M. and J. C. Walker on 13 Oct 1883.[4]
He was involved in a lawsuit in 1898 in Milam Co., Texas (W. J. Lane vs. S. P. Kimbrell et al). Final judgment was set forth on 21 Nov 1898.[5]

The last record currently available for Stewart is the 1898 lawsuit. Clearly, he died after 1898. They seem fairly well settled in Texas, so he likely died there, too, but this is speculative.
