James King was the second son of Richard King and Margaret Barkley. He was born in Brunswick County, New Jersey on Jan 6, 1737.

Marriage to Sarah Brevard

Accord to the Richard King family bible, all children for James King were from his first wife. She must have died about 1790. Her burial location is not known. The Find a Grave records assign his second wife as mother of his children.[2]

Marriage to Sarah Hall

He married Sarah Hall, daughter of the first James Hall of Bethany Church, Iredell County, North Carolina. James and Sarah lived on Snow Creek in Rowan County (later became Iredell County in 1788).
