Melissa Evelyn King was born to her parents John House King and her mother, Syothy or Cyotha Sears on 23 Oct 1858 in Texas, USA. At approximately one year of age, she lived with her father, his wife Annie, Frances King, her sister, and her twin brother William in Denton, Denton County, Texas, USA.[1]
She wed her husband, Aaron Carlysle Fry, on 3 Jun 1878 in Burnet, Texas.[2]
According to Melissa Evelyn King, Annie King was her stepmother, the sister of her biological mother, Syothy. Melissa's father, John House King, married Annie after Syothy died after the birth of Melissa and William.[3]
Melissa died in Burnet County, Texas on June 7, 1947.[4]
The stepmother of Melissa Evelyn, Annie, was probably also known as Indiana. There has been some confusion as to who was called Annie, Syothy or her sister, Indiana. It is possible that they may have both been called Annie. This information is based on word-of-mouth passed down from Melissa Evelyn to her daughter, Ollie Edith Fry.
