Biography

John was born about 1800. He was the son of Benjamin King and Martha Marieth Haywood. He and his wife, Delilah Cox, settled the community of Little Elm in Denton County, Texas in 1844; he passed away about 1846 and was the first interment in what was King Cemetery.[1]

Research Notes

According to the Hussey Manuscript, John W. King (the husband of Delilah Cox) was born in 1798 on King's Mountain in North Carolina. A descendant of John W. King, Clyde Shahan, believes that John W. King was the grandson of Johnston King and son of Johnstonn King, Jr.[2]

The profile manager for Benjamin King has attached John W. King as the son for him and Martha Marieth Haywood. In support of this is a transcription of a Bible listing "Wesley King" born 20 Feb 1810 and dying 1841 as a child of Benjamin and Martha and a genealogy for the King family. [3] [4] New Research: A transcription of notes on file at the Washington County Historical Society Inc., Salem, Indiana contains a genealogy of the family of Benjamin King and his wife Martha Heywood. There are two items of note: 1 - A list of their children includes Wesley who died in 1814, not 1841. 2- The will of Benjamin does not include Wesley which argues that he was deceased at the time of his father's will and had no issue. New information indicates that the child of Benjamin King and Martha Heywood, Wesley, is not the same as John W. King because Wesley died at the age of about 14. I will disconnect them as parents if I do not receive communication showing that this new information is incorrect.

King-26448 and King-16845 appear to represent the same person because: same birth date, date of death, and spouse.
