Biography

Mrs. Frances K. Crim June 17, 1927- January 2, 2016 Columbus, GA- Mrs. Frances K. Crim, 88, of Columbus died January 2, 2016 at her residence. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 04, 2016 at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Thad Smith officiating. A private family interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Monday at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus. Mrs. Crim was known by many names. Her parents often called her Mary Frances; her older brother nicknamed her "Koot", a name still used by her high school friends; her church friends called her Frances; her Spring Harbor friends shortened that name to Fran, and her children lovingly called her Mom. By far, her favorite name was "Frannie" the name used by the world's most exceptional grand and great-grand children! Mrs. Crim was born June 17, 1927, in Columbus to the late James Benjamin and Ollie Elizabeth King. Her greatest joy was caring for her family and traveling. At the death of her first husband at the age of 35, she began to work outside of the home to take care of her children. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining. Ever the consummate hostess, it was always her desire to make everyone feel included. Frances was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Joyous Sunday School Class. Over the years, she participated in all aspects of the church's ministry including the Widow's Ministry. She was an active member of the Azalea Garden Club and for the last decade has thoroughly enjoyed life at Spring Harbor and the many new friends she met there. In addition to her parents and her brother, Harrison King, Frances is preceded in death by husbands, Robert W. Carr, Sr., Sydnor Jones (Syd) Porter, and Dr. John Winthrop Crim. She is also preceded in death by her son, Robert W. Carr, Jr. and daughter, Kathy Carr McNeil. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Buntin (Jim) and Lynn Cantrell (Brian), and her son, Scott Porter (Beverly), stepdaughters Lucinda Hill (Bloise), and Martha Wilson (Ray), grandchildren Tish Shirley (Bobby), Richard Porter (Brandi), Jenny Lynn Buntin, Melissa Wolf (Chris), Rebekka McNeil, Tristan Porter, and step-grandchildren Kara Lemonds (Neal), Allison Estevez (Sean), Micah, Laurel, Diana, Jonathan, Stephen, and Thomas Wilson, Nathaniel, Jean, and Macfarland Hill (Mallory), great-grands Mac and Graham Shirley, Carter and Callie Wolf, Hannah Porter, and Ayden Chiarella, Addyson and Malachi Estevez, special sister- in-law, Frances Lolley, and nieces Sue Dalelio, Peggy King, Michele Ellsworth, and Jennifer Carr.
