Ora's parents died shortly after she was born. Her Great Aunt Margaret took her in and raised her.

Ora married Millard at Alexander County, Illinois in 1910.[3] Ora and Millard were living at Joliet, Will, Illinois during the 1920 census with four children.[4] Ora and Millard were living in Collinsville, Illinois during the 1940 census.[5]
Ora must have thought the world of her great aunt Margaret, as she named her first son after Margaret's dad, and she named her second daughter Margaret Elizabeth in honor of her great aunt.
