St. Andrew's Church, Wee Waa, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday, April 19, when the Rev. Father O'Hanlin, assisted by the Rev. Father Mahoney (cousin of the bride), officiated at the marriage of Miss K. A. Mahoney, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mahoney, Wee Waa, and Mr. Mark Leo King, sixth son of Mr. and Mrs. John King, Inglewood, Moree. Mr. Roy. King, brother of the bridegroom, was best man; and Mr. C. Mahoney, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Miss King, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Harris were bridesmaids. The bride, who was given away by her father, was handsomely attired in a trained dress of pale blue silk ninon over glace; bodice and skirt trimmed with embossed embroidery, and silver fringe. She wore the customary wreath and veil; her gold muff chain and bracelet were, the bridegroom's gifts. Her lovely bouquet was made and presented by her friend, Miss McDonnell; and the ivory-bound prayer book she carried was given by Miss. O'Neill. Miss King (bridesmaid), wore a dress of cream Sicilian, braided and trimmed with silk and Cluny lace, and cream hat, trimmed with lace and cream roses, pink and white. Miss Harris (bridesmaid) wore cream silk voile, trimmed with lace and embroidery, cream hat, with lace and pink roses. Both wore pearl and ruby brooches, and carried, bouquets of cream and pink roses, asparagus and maiden hair ferns, the bridegroom's gifts. The "Wedding March" was played by Miss Clare Mahoney (sister of the bride). After leaving the church, all drove to the School of Arts, where a reception was held, the parents, of both bride and bridegroom, with several members of both families, being present. Tables were tastefully and plentifully laid out, and nicely decorated with blue and white, the bride's colours, and in the centre of the hall a large wedding bell was suspended, from which blue and white ribbons were arranged at the end of the tables. The wedding presents, which were numerous, included several cheques. The happy couple took their departure by the afternoon train for Armidale, where the honeymoon was spent. A number of friends assembled at the railway station to see them off. The bride's travelling dress was of pale mauve ninon, trimmed with satin embroidery and lace, a large black velvet hat, with jet buckle and ostrich plumes. On their return the young couple will take up their residence at Gendine, Rowena, their home. [2]
